Alex Matheson (b. 1992) is a composer and improviser from Concord, Massachusetts, the spiritual home of Transcendentalism and perhaps the root of his interest in the sublime and ethical properties of music. He currently studies with Michael Gandolfi at Boston’s New England Conservatory of Music, where he is earning an D.M.A. His other musical interests include collaborations for the stage and screen, the Dalcroze kinesthetic and pedagogical tradition, contemporary improvisation, and Deep Listening. Previous studies at NEC (M.M.) and Hampshire College (B.A.).
